The Wilhoites family in gym

The Wilhoite Family!

The Wilhoite's have been ryding with us since December of 2019. Mark was the first family member to check out Power Ryde; he came to one of our free Power Ryde 101 classes for new ryders. He then reached out to us about bringing the Loveland Girls' Lacrosse Team in on the weekends to cross-train. We said ABSOLUTELY! ...A couple weeks later the team and parents started ryding with us every Saturday morning!

Mark's daughter, Carly, was a junior on the Loveland lacrosse team at the time and she came to that first class with her mom, Sue. Fast-forward a few weeks and the Wilhoite family started coming to additional class times throughout the week. There was a brief hiatus during Covid and then they started coming back last Summer and trying other classes, like our TRX and Circuit classes! Over the years they have also brought other family members and friends.

The Wilhoites have been huge supporters of Power Ryde and we love having the entire family in class with us. Carly recently graduated from Loveland where she was named a lacrosse All American. She will be continuing her lacrosse career at the University of Tampa this fall. We are so sad to see her go, but we know she has very big things ahead of her!

Way to go Wilhoite family and best of luck Carly! Keep reading below to see why the Wilhoite family rydes with us at Power Ryde!

What brought you to Power Ryde?

Mark - I had been riding at another spin location in town and got bored sitting on a stationary bike doing the same thing over and over so I wanted to try a bike that moved.

Sue - We started coming two years ago as part of a conditioning group for the Loveland Lax team. We thought we’d go to try it out ourselves and ended up loving it!

Carly - I just wanted to try something that would make my workouts actually fun and interesting!

Do you remember your first ryde and how you felt after?

Mark - Yes it was a 30 min "try it before you buy it" ride on a Sat morning with Casey and I felt so incredibly uncoordinated the first time that I didn't think I would come back. Casey said it takes at least three rides to get the hang of it so I came back for a couple more rides and just like that I was hooked.

Sue - After my first ride I thought, "That was really hard!!!" I didn’t think I’d be able to finish the class. I came back because I realized what bad shape I was in.

Carly - Yes. I definitely was dying by the end of it and my butt hurt the next day! But I had a lot of fun! :)

What has kept you coming back for more week after week?

Mark - Casey and Meg along with the instructors treat you like family. They know you when you come in, joke with you, check in on your well being, and then they flip the switch and work the s*%$ out of you on the bike. Can't ask for much more than that.

Sue - I continue to come back because I love the workout and I love Meg and all the instructors!! It truly feels so comfortable and like family!!

Carly - First of all the community here is unlike no other, everyone is so nice and close. Also I know I’m getting a really good workout without feeling bored or dreadful like other exercises and the music is so good!

Do you have a favorite moment that you remember at Power Ryde?

Mark - My daughter's LLS fundraising ride. Casey and Meg allowed her to use the studio to raise money and awareness for LLS which, by the way, they will do for any charity, you just have to ask. They are so involved and give back so much to the community for a number of great causes.

Sue - My favorite memory has to be Carly's 18th birthday. Her bike was decorated, there was cake, and they sang to her!

Carly - For my 18th birthday, Kelly (the instructor) played all my favorite songs and bought my whole class Bundt cakes afterwards.

Tell us a fun fact about your yourself.

Mark - In my last game of summer ball before college, I pitched against Ken Griffey Jr, Pete Rose Jr, and Lee May Jr in one game.

Sue - I work at Loveland schools as a preschool aide so during the school year. When I’m not at Power Ryde I’m playing with and teaching 3, 4 and 5 year olds. I love it and they keep me young!

Carly - My dream is to live in a huge house on a farm and take care of horses when I’m older!

When you are not Power Ryding, what can we find you doing?

Mark - Playing golf, mountain biking, or watching the Bachelor.

Sue - During the summer I love to hang by the pool and spend as much time as possible with my family!

Carly - Either watching tv or playing lacrosse!
